Modern Calligraphy with Lucy Berridge - 28th March - 10am - 3.30pm
Learn how to create greetings cards, gift tags and place names using Modern Calligraphy techniques with Lucy Berridge.
About this event
In this workshop led by Lucy Berridge, you'll be taught how to use modern calligraphy to create cards, gift tags or place names for your table.
Lucy has always loved handwriting and all things stationery, so discovering the new version of what we now call 'Modern Calligraphy' means that the basic rules of copperplate calligraphy can be transferred onto a more relaxed and contemporary use of beautiful handwriting that is no longer exclusive to a select few. It can be learnt, practised and enjoyed by anyone.
Here is an opportunity to practice in a peaceful and focused environment with lots of guidance and one-to-one teaching. This session will improve your overall technique and help to develop your own personal calligraphy style, at your own pace. We will be developing your personal signature style by exploring spacing, joining and proportions. We will also be learning to master the use of white and gold inks.
Please bring your own apron, and also note, calligraphy ink doesn’t wash out of all fabrics, so please don’t wear your favourite clothes!
The materials for this course will include:
oblique pen holder
nib
ink - black
further practice sheets
cards and envelopes for final designs
During the day tea and coffee will be provided and at lunchtime a simple light meal in the restaurant is included.
